Reopening

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the library open?

We are open for pickup service only. On November 13, 2020, the library building had to close to the public once again, due to guidance from Montgomery County health officials regarding Covid-19. We are offering contactless pickup of books and other materials in our parking lot.

You need to make an appointment before coming to the library.

Call to make a appointment: (215) 672-1420.

We can not currently offer internet or computer access but we are working on a solution and expect to announce laptop services soon.

More about contactless pickup

We offer contactless pickup of books and materials in our parking lot. This option will be available for the foreseeable future.

You can request and check out books and other materials, and we’ll bring them out to your car. We also accept returns this way.

To make an appointment, email us at Staff@HatboroLibrary.org, or call (215) 672-1420. Tell us your name and which books you want. You can also request new book purchases at this email.

What about e-library resources?

You can access over a million titles 24/7 in our e-library. We encourage patrons to access these resources as much as possible.

Library staff can provide technical assistance during this period with e-resources, accounts, or getting a new library card. Call or email us at Staff@HatboroLibrary.org, or (215) 672-1420

Can I bring back books I’ve checked out?

Yes. We are accepting returns. We will do our best to work with patrons regarding fines during closures.

We are not accepting book donations at this time.

Are you quarantining books before I check them out?

Yes. Following best practices, we quarantine all returned materials for at least 48 hours.

Please do not disinfect books yourself.

Can I request a meeting room or use the library for group study?

No. Based on the guidelines from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Department of Education, we cannot currently host group study, tutoring, meetings, or any gatherings of the public that don’t allow social distancing.

We will return to these services as soon as we can do so safely.

Will there be a book sale and shred in September 2021?

It will depend on guidance from health officials but we hope the Book Sale and Shred can return next year.
